Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas

Article 1, Section 8 defines one of the powers of Congress:

To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;

With pirates again running amok and taking U.S. vessels and crewmen, history repeats itself.  Jefferson was one of our greatest men, and one of our greatest presidents, and he was the first president to engage in a legitimate, constitutional war outside this nation's borders.

It is with sublime humility that I follow in his footsteps, and ask the Congress to authorize war against the pirates.   I will not personally declare war, and I will not beg permission from the U.N., nor will I wait for nor accept any commands from the U.N. to engage in "peacekeeping" actions against the pirates. Simultaneously, I declare an end of all our other unconstitutional and unjustified wars across the globe, and all occupations of foreign nations.

I find it ironic that despite this being the first legitimately constitutional military action my collegue in the White House could pursue is the only one to be ignored.

In closing, I would just like to say, "GO NAVY!"
