The Illegitimate President If he can be President, why can't I?

Should Americans support anything the President wants?

“I love everything he’s done and everything he’s doing.  I think we should give him all-out support for anything he wants to do. We should all help. He’s giving our country back to us, and that’s the laws of the land – the citizens own the country.”

- Tony Bennett

Bennett made that declaration at the Smithsonian, in an interview with CNSNews.com.  At first, I was pleased that he would offer such fealty to me, but it turned out he was actually talking Obama.

So, I wept a little, but then I re-read what he said, and became shocked and appaled at the sentiment expressed in the interview.  I wondered if Bennett has been paying any attention whatsoever to what Obama has been doing, or if he's only ever listened to the sound bites and speeches Obama reads (that are written by other people!).  I also have to wonder if Bennett even knows what a president is supposed to do!  Assuming that you may not know what the role of the President is in these United States, I will explain it a bit.  It's described in Article 2 of the Constitution.

Section 1: Qualifications and oath of office.  Obama pretty much ignored this section, and his first official act upon being elected was to screw up the Oath:  "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."  He then proceeded to trample all over the Constitution.

Section 2 : Civilian Power over Military, Cabinet, Pardon Power, Appointments

  1. The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United StatesNote: Article 1 grants power to call the armed forces and militia into service to Congress, not to the President.
  2. The President may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices,
  3. Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.
  4. Make treaties, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur.
  5. Nominate ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, who will then be confirmed by the Senate.
  6. The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

Section 3: State of the Union, Convening Congress

  1. The President shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient;
  2. The President  may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper;
  3. The President shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers;
  4. The President shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,
  5. The President shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

Article 2 finishes with Section 4, explaining how to remove the President from office.  I hope we get to test it out, soon!

So there you go, the 11 duties of The President.  Section 7 of Article 1 adds that The President signs or vetoes bills passed by the house and senate.  Anything the President does that is not specifically authorized by The Constitution is a blatant usurpation of power, unconstitutional, illegal, and without the force of law.

So let's go back to Tony's statement, and see how delusional it is:

“I love everything he’s done and everything he’s doing."

Personal opinion, he's welcome to it.

"I think we should give him all-out support for anything he wants to do."

While this is also a personal opinion, it is wrong, and the basis of support for every tyrant who's ever lived.  The president does not deserve nor merit support for anything he wants to do, only for those things that are just, constitutional, and secure the liberty and security of the people.  So far as I am aware, Barry is doing nothing to promote freedom and justice, but only actions to strengthen government's grip on the lives of every citizen.

"We should all help."

Help what, enslave ourselves?  No thanks!

"He’s giving our country back to us, and that’s the laws of the land – the citizens own the country.”

Obama is not only not giving the country back, he is taking the citizens from country, and the country from the citizens!  Obama cares not one whit for the laws of the land.  In March, he began issuing signing statements, declaring that he may or may not execute the law he is in the process of signing, and that no one should pay any attention to former President G. W. Bush's signing statements without first consulting with his Attorney General.  This is the exact opposite of taking "Care that the Laws be faithfully executed," and a gross abuse of power.

He sent his buffoon Todd Stern to Bonn to promise to the socialist nations of the world that he will hamstring U.S. productivity, and allow foreign nations to determine our industrial capacity, in order to give legitimacy to junk science and disproven theories.

He signed a bill declaring that your labor and life belong to the federal government, and requiring you to pony them up for federal use in exchange for the opportuinty to graduate high school and attend college.  And you thought the 13th Amendment abolished slavery!

So no, contrary to Tony Bennetts slobbering commitment of love, I do not expect or even want all Americans everywhere to blindly support me in whatever I may do.  I am not a king, I have no divine right to rule, nor is the sovereignty of the people invested in me.

You are your own soverign; I merely enforce those laws allotted to me, and leave everything else to you and the states in which you live.

Only 1282 days left!

In my first address to the nation I would like to thank everyone who voted for Barack Obama. Without your votes the most corrupt President in American history wouldn’t be in office. After only 100 days in office our great Commander and Chief has managed to trample on every principle this country was founded on. Washington is being run like the mafia and Obama is the mob boss. Congress has managed to steal our liberty and money right before our eyes. Each day I wake up thinking it can’t get any worse but it always does. Today I found out that Obama will soon be appointing a new judge to the Supreme Court. Lucky us! That is a gift that will keep on giving! The last 100 days have felt like an eternity. I don’t see how we’ll make it through the next four years.

A stimulus theory that just might work!

Obama Mulls ‘Assault-Vehicle’ Ban to Spur Car Sales
by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace

(2009-04-27) — Since the Obama administration’s talk of banning so-called ‘assault weapons’ has resulted in a huge spike in semi-automatic weapon sales nationwide, the White House has recently begun a covert ‘whisper campaign’ suggesting the president might also ban U.S.-manufactured cars and trucks with fully-automatic transmissions, now dubbed ‘assault vehicles’.
President Obama reportedly hopes such chatter will give a much-needed boost to U.S. auto sales.

Congressman Paul on the Recent Swine Flu Scare

I urge my fellow Americans to remember that the normal flu causes 36,000 deaths every year, and while that is incredibly sad, do not let panic over a comparatively small number of deaths from swine flu pressure you into turning over responsibility and control over your health to the government.

Politicians only care about their own political power, and the lobbyists who help them maintain their position and power, and that goes double for me.

So pay heed to Ron Paul - there's nothing in this world that politicians cannot make worse, and they stand no better chance of curing the swine flu than they do of finding Barack's birth certificate.
